In a prior post I talked about some of the big Holy Spirit outpourings in the history of America… and I discussed a dry spell that’s been happening in our nation.
I’m not sure everyone would agree on that point. In fact in many congregations I’ve been in it feels “quite wet.” The Spirit is in fact alive and well in at least many of our churches. I want to be VERY clear. I am very excited for what I see God doing already in our nation and am always thankful for His presence. Wherever God has family… there He is.
About a decade ago now I was attending a small little church in my hometown. The senior pastor and his wife were dear friends of mine and the parents of my best friend from High School. I was there because God had told me to stay there, though I didn’t know why.
My second or third Sunday attending: Margie turned around to look at me and asked if she could introduce me to the congregation. I politely declined. But she insisted.. so finally I relented.
Then she asked if I would say something… I politely declined again…. But the second I did thoughts started rumbling around in my mind. Little did I know that God was up to something.
When I stood up with Margie to be introduced. She introduced me and told the congregation that I was going to share something. (clearly listening to the Spirit and not to me)
At which point the Lord only given me a simple phrase. “Isn’t it awesome that God is working all over the world…”
And I was off like a shot. Or rather God was off like a shot. In a short period of time Jesus, through me, expounded His passion for his movement all over the earth including this dear little church that he had put me in. I shared stories and brief testimonies… things God had taught me through books and testimony…but mostly just talked about Gods love.
By the end there were people smiling, crying, etc.
When I sat down, Margie stood up again and declared: “And that when he’s not prepared”
Thus began my preaching ministry.
God is everywhere. He loves the people of all nations… whether they be in the Underground church in China or a small country church in Charlevoix, Michigan.
And He is calling His family to Himself… from every tribe and tongue… including yours!
“After these things I looked, and behold, a vast multitude that no one could count—from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues—was standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!””
The Revelation 7:9-10 TLV
God is on the move everywhere… and I believe that He is coming after America sincerely and intensely.
