I’m tired… oh so very tired… I let myself be worried about money yesterday… I feel distant from Abba…. I’m weary, burdened… needing rest. It’s time to get close to my Father again
On my lunch break I turn on some worship music. The song Jireh by Maverick City Music came on.
Perhaps you are like me and need some rest today… so here are some reminders.
“I’ll never be more loved then I am right now”
“You would cross an ocean, so I wouldn’t drown”
The word Jireh comes from Genesis 22:14. Where God provided for Abraham in his distress and trial.
It’s the only time it appears in the Bible… but it is a significant moment… Abraham attaches Jireh to the Personal name of God to identify that God by his very nature is a provider.
The root of the word is far more than just provision…. It has this connotation:to see, look at, inspect, perceive, consider
He is the God who sees our need… and meets it
When Jesus walked on earth he once said:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ‘you will find rest for your souls.’ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 TLV
Come to me.. all you who are weary.. ALL… I will give you rest. I am gentle and humble… you will find rest… for my yoke is easy and burden is light…..
I take Him at His word. In this moment all he wants from me is… me. He will provide the rest….. both the REST in terms of everything else… and the rest in terms of refreshing.
May it be… because it is.
