How do you want to retire?
So let’s define retire… I know if you are one of my frequent readers… it’s probably getting cliche now. I don’t know how to break the habit. I’ll work on it.
Retire (verb)
leave one’s job and cease to work, typically upon reaching the normal age for leaving employment.
I don’t know that I’ll ever retire… not everything anyway. I understand that there is a certain point where the body needs some more leeway and all that jazz.
But I want to be as active as I can as long as I can…. And believe that when I die I will meet Jesus in a resurrection that will include labor… labor without over striving and without thorns and thistles…
But work all the same.
Before sin and death entered the world… work was a part of it. Adam and Eve tended the animals and tended the garden…
Even if you think those stories are figurative they play into the later narrative of the Bible.
Work is not bad…. Rest is not only for when you are dead. It’s all about rhythm.
How do I want to do this then though?
Well at some point I would love to take somewhat of a step back from my customer service job to focus more on writing and sharing the gospel….. I want to spend a TON of time with my kids, grandkids, Lord willing Great grandkids.
I want to seek the Lord LONG into old age and forever… I want to encourage and serve my family and others til the day I die…
But I want to do that now…. I want to love my family now. They deserve the best parts of me as their dad and husband.
I will trust in God for my provision. I will always seek ways to be with my Jesus, my wife, and my kids. Then my grandkids.
Then live forever with my Jesus… and these same people. For all time and forever.
Why retire from that?
